The AnglicareCQ Homelessness and Emergency Relief service helps families find suitable, secure homes, and break down the barriers preventing them finding a place in the mainstream housing market. We can also help you maintain your tenancy, so you can stay in your home through a period of crisis.

We provide practical and emotional support, intervention and education. You’ll work with a case manager, who’ll be with you every step of the way as you learn useful tools and life skills to take control of your housing situation. We can also put you in touch with other agencies which may be able to provide assistance specific to your circumstances.

All our services are free, and available in Central Queensland communities from the Capricorn Coast to the Outback. You do not need a referral to access our service; however we do accept referrals from other agencies and organisations.

Supported accommodation

We have a limited number of properties available for families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or otherwise in urgent need of a safe place to stay. We have crisis accommodation in Rockhampton, Blackwater, Emerald, Longreach, Barcaldine and Winton.

Properties are allocated on a needs basis, and this accommodation is short term and subject to conditions.

While you’re staying in crisis housing, you’ll work with an AnglicareCQ case manager to address the issues that are making it hard for you to find or keep a suitable long term home.

Mobile support: help where you need it

You do not need to be in AnglicareCQ crisis accommodation to use other aspects of our service.

Our team provides a mobile service which brings our services to you. This includes help with planning and budgeting, life skills, and practical and emotional support to help you find a suitable long-term place to call home.

Emergency Relief

Emergency relief provides assistance for people going through a period of crisis. You’ll work with one of our case managers to identify and address the issues that led to your crisis, and give you the skills and resources for you to get back on your feet.

Our emergency relief service can also provide advice, information, and referrals for financial counselling and other services.

Assistance may be available to help with rent arrears, some living expenses or the costs associated with finding a permanent place to live.
